At Rectrix, we believe that mentoring is hugely beneficial, we would say essential, for Christian discipleship.  We also know that many may have difficulty getting started in mentoring, or feel ill-equipped to be a mentor due to lack of experience and resources.

Our vision is to help organisations to understand the need for and become attentive to God’s direction in this area.  We want to be used by God to support and teach organisations how to get started and grow more established in mentoring relationships.

- Life today is so busy that there is a real lack of reflection and attentiveness to the voice of God.
- The goal of mentoring is, through listening and prayer, to provide space for individuals to pay attention to the already present action and voice of God in everything.
- As the mentoree becomes more aware of how God is already at work in their lives, they are given confidence and encouragement about God’s purpose, goodness and faithfulness – and thus the Church is built up.
- Mentor training is focused on the encouragement of the mentor; reminding them of their place before God; giving them practical tools for mentoring; and “trouble-shooting”.

- Experienced mentors who might need some refreshing or advice
- New mentors looking for direction and ideas
- Those who are considering becoming a mentor and need some “envisioning” and an idea of what mentoring involves.

- Prayer and reflection
- Teaching and study of Scripture for examples or direction
- Discussion of experiences/ Q&A
- Group interaction
- Role-play (Oh yes!)
- Visual parables
- Testimonies

Rectrix mentor training is currently only available within the UK, but some day we hope to be able to bring Rectrix to wherever you are.  Meantime, we would love to be able to encourage and support you from afar!  If you are interested in this, please get in touch.  The wonders of the Internet may enable us to work something out.
