...
the number of hairs on heads…the minutes of every day and what they contain for everyone everywhere…
He is in front of us and behind us…inescapable…infinitely involved…
The Bible teaches us that there is nothing in all the world, either too small or too great, about which God does not know or care. Jesus reinforced it over and over again, noticing the things that others walked past – noticing the people that others did not see…
There is no part of life of which He is not the Expert, there is nothing He does not know – no maths equation is too hard for Him, no philosophical question too challenging, no situation too complicated, no relationship beyond His wisdom; and there is no time or place that he is not with us – Immanuel, God with us.

Do we actually realise that the Living God is involved in our lives, and that He wants us to grow in relationship with Him?
Do we actually realise that it is possible to become more aware of, and alive to, God’s presence and active work?
Do we actually realise that to walk with God through life is an option? Not just every now and then, in the ‘holy’ moments, or the crisis moments – but in every single minute of every single day, every conversation, decision, situation, challenge, trial, joy, relationship…? And that THIS is the way we are designed to live life?
To walk with God is an option – it is available to us. But we need to learn how – need to develop eyes of faith that can see Him – ears that can learn to listen – and hearts that learn to respond to Him…That’s where Rectrix comes in…
Rectrix believes that one of the most important ingredients for Christian growth is mentoring. It is a relationship that seeks to help the mentoree learn more about God and themselves so that they become more like Christ and are able to live the life God intended them to live in whatever situation they find themselves in, walking with Him. Mentoring at Rectrix involves - intentional conversations, accountability, honest questions and honest answers, a safe place to be 'real', a context in which to learn and grow.
Rectrix Mentoring is –
-
Non judgmental
-
Relational
-
Intentional
-
Confidential.

'Spiritual mentoring includes a process of listening to the life of another and then teaching people to open their eyes and see what is there - everywhere - teaching them to become detectives for the presence of divinity.'
'Pay attention to the mundane. Honour the everyday. How inattentive we are to the fingerprints of the Almighty on the repetitious turning of the clock and calendar. How mute we believe God is, although the voice of the Lord whispers or shouts in the seeming randomness of the usual. How rich the treasure when the mentor helps the mentoree slow the pace, quiet the distractions and create space for attending to the ordinary.'
Spiritual Mentoring - Anderson & Reece ...God has already seized the initiative...God has been working diligently, redemptively, and strategically before I appeared on the scene, before I was aware there was something here for me to do...
Eugene Peterson
“It is a dynamic relationship of trust in which one person enables another to maximize the grace of God in his/her life and service.”
John Mallison
“Mentoring is a relationship through which one person empowers another by sharing God-given resources.”
Robert Clinton
‘Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.’ Hebrews 10:24-25
Mentoring, or 'encouragementoring' as we call it around Rectrix, is absolutely vital to discipleship. Intentional conversations, accountability, honest questions and honest answers, a safe place to be 'real', a context in which to learn and grow are all part of mentoring. The Bible is full of examples of this, and uses the phrase 'one another' over and over again.
Over and over again, we have seen the benefits of mentoring within our own lives, as we are mentored, and in the lives of those we mentor. God is using it to stretch and grow us, to develop maturity in us. We can't recommend it enough!

Many women have benefited hugely from Rectrix Mentoring.
If you are interested in being mentored, please get in touch.

-
We will meet with you to chat through mentoring,
and then, if you wish to pursue it, we will carefully match you with one of our mentors.
And then?
The assigned mentor will contact you and you will arrange a place to meet (almost like a blind date – good fun!). First session will be spent getting to know each other and arranging details like – where and when you will meet and what type of mentoring you think you would benefit most from. Here are some of the options –
- A Bible study – going through a book of the Bible; using pre-written notes; looking at specific topics in the Scriptures,
- A chat – a conversation where you do most of the talking and someone is actually listening to every word you are saying,
- Specific chat – set topics,
- None of the above? Please don’t let that put you off – contact us and we will listen to you and look into arrangements most suitable for you!

We charge a nominal fee of £10 per session/£20 per month
(based on fortnightly 1 hour-long mentoring sessions).

We ask you to commit to a 6 months mentoring time-frame.
Then, at the end of this time, we review the mentoring together, before mutually deciding to continue or not. Some of our mentorees have been with us for several years now - testifying to the ongoing usefulness of mentoring.
We value good beginnings, good journeyings and good endings!
We will be looking forward to hearing from you if this is something you are interested in pursuing. However, if you are not sure but would like to find out more about this – please feel free to email also!

The following are all found in the book of Proverbs, in the Bible...
The generous prosper and are satisfied; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed 11.25
To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. 12.1
Fools think they need no advice, but the wise listen to others. 12.15
Truth stands the test of time; lies are soon exposed. 12.19
Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. 12.25
The wise person makes learning a joy; fools spout only foolishness. 15:2
A wise person is hungry for truth, while the fool feeds on trash. 15:14
Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time. 15.23
If you listen to constructive critism, you will be at home among the wise. If you reflect critism, you only harm yourself; but if you
listen to correction, you grow in understanding. Fear of the LORD teaches a person to be wise; humility precedes honour. 15.31-33
A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered. 17.27
A person's words can be life-giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook. 18.4
Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honour. What a shame, what folly, to give advice before listening to
the facts! 18.12-13
