Dace Wilson
Director of Mentoring |

Firstly, I am only an honourary Scot who originally comes from Latvia (hence the different or maybe even weird name that doesn't rhyme with 'race' but 'yatzy'). I have now been over here for almost 7 years and I am still loving it! I have spent most of these years working in many different roles for Scripture Union Scotland. I recently gained a Theology Degree at International Christian College, focusing on Practical Theology - Pastoral and Preaching Ministry. I am married to Luke Wilson and I am currently a full-time mum to our first little boy Aaron.

Keep checking back... |
Although Aaron takes up most of my day (and night!), I also try to be involved in my church - Charlotte Baptist Chapel. I sing and sometimes play the violin. I have also recently joined the 66th Leith District Scout group as one of their Assistant leaders. I hope to get more involved with the stuff organised for mums now that I am one myself.
My favourite likes (in no particular order) - citrus fruit (try a slice of lemon with a spoonful of sugar on top - yum!), tidying/cleaning - I find these very rewarding and almost therapeutic. On
a more serious note - I have been a Christian for 10 years now and am still totally gobsmacked
at God's amazing grace - why would God of the whole universe choose me, save me and
actually want me to spend time with Him?!?!

When I was considering studying theology, the main drive behind it was learning so that I, in turn, could help others learn and grow in their walk with God. When I heard about Rectrix, it just all seemed to click. There was an organisation, a group of people who invested their time and effort to help others live a life God intended them to live in whatever situation they found themselves in. The different areas within Rectrix have that goal behind them and I want to be part of that.

Mentoring - as you will see from other information on the website, is a biblical thing. It is right for people to look for mentors or to mentor others. Christians are not meant to go through life on their own. We were created to be relational beings! I can personally think of people who have made a massive difference in my life by simply listening to me 'unload' my thoughts and then help me sort them out so they make sense! Sometimes all we need is someone with fresh ears and eyes to give us a good, objective opinion of the situation we're in. May I say that we, women, get so caught up in our thoughts sometimes that we're off track before we know it?
We can get so caught up in our circumstances, busy lives, spinning thoughts that we forget to look for God in all of that. However, He is very much involved in both the spiritual and the mundane, we just might need a wee bit of help to notice it! Mentoring is a great thing - it involves both encouragement and genuine care as well as challenge and accountability. It is a great 'tool' for those who would appreciate some help as they learn about themselves and about God, grow in this relationship and experience of God and ultimately live a life to the full!
